WASHINGTON, DC – Today Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and Christopher (Kit) Bond (R-Mo.), vice chairman of the committee, announced that the committee unanimously approved the nomination of Admiral Dennis Blair to be the next Director of National Intelligence.
“Admiral Blair is exceptionally well-qualified to lead America’s intelligence community, and I believe he will be an outstanding Director of National Intelligence,” Senator Feinstein said. “He has pledged to work closely with the committee, and with Congress, to build a relationship of trust and candor. I am convinced that he will ensure that we are true to our ideals as we gather the intelligence necessary to provide for our national security.”
“Admiral Blair has dedicated his life to serving this nation and I am confident that as our next Director of National Intelligence he will ensure this country continues to play offense against the terrorists that threaten our way of life,” Senator Bond said. “Today’s vote shows the bipartisan commitment the members of this committee have to keeping our nation and families safe from attack.”
The Senate Intelligence Committee held an open hearing January 22 on Admiral Blair’s nomination to be the next DNI. Admiral Blair’s confirmation is expected to come before the full Senate as soon as possible.
